Shantou, China, 13 Aug 2024: The new Alien 150C and 300C feature compact yet sturdy designs, an advanced color mixing system, improved low-end dimming, heads with IP55 rating, multiple power options, and efficient cooling technology.
Alien lights are the ultimate lighting solution for a wide range of applications. Whether it's an outdoor location with pouring rain, an indoor live streaming shoot, or a small set requiring more flexibility, the Alien 150C and Alien 300C are reliable tools that help users achieve the results they want. These lights truly demonstrate Nanlite's ongoing commitment to advancing lighting technology.
More Light, Less Weight
With flexibility, transportability and weight demands in mind, the Nanlite team designed the Alien 150C and 300C with a separate lamp head and control unit. The lamp head of the Alien 150C weighs only 3.6kg/7.94lb, and the Alien 300C just 6.6kg/14.55lb. These represent significant reductions of 13% and 45% respectively compared to competing products on the market, allowing the Alien lights to be easily mounted on boom arms or lightweight stands.
The Alien 150C features an illumination area of 24.6×18cm/9.7×7.1", while the Alien 300C measures 36×24.8cm/14.2×9.8”. Paired with the included pop-up softbox, they can create perfect soft light while maintaining a compact size.
Precision Optics, Illuminating Excellence
The Alien series adopts an advanced optical design, with excellent light mixing technology and alternately laid and rotated WW and RGB light beads. This combination allows it to output a very bright and even beam.
Thanks to the combination of advanced optics and power the Alien series achieves astonishing output. At 5600K the readings at one meter reach as high as 13,050 lux (Alien 150C) and 28,630 lux (Alien 300C) respectively. Even with a softbox attached, or through diffusion, there is still ample output.
Outstanding Color Fidelity
CRI: Average 96 TLCI: Average 97 TM-30 Rf: Average 94 TM-30 Rg: Average 100.
Nanlite's exceptional RGBWW color mixing system ensures outstanding light quality, allowing users to illuminate scenes with a myriad of colors. With a wide color temperature range from 2700K to 12000K and ±150 G/M adjustment capability, the Alien 150C and Alien 300C can effortlessly match other light sources and simulate various times of day.
New Interface, Enhanced Efficiency
The Alien series is equipped with Nanlite’s new-generation user interface, aiming to provide creators with an unparalleled experience. By incorporating intuitive icons and minimizing textual information, the new interface can be clearly understood at a glance. The redesigned menu layout offers an improved operational logic, assisting users in quickly locating needed functions and effortlessly adjusting parameters.
In response to users' demand for quick access to specific lighting settings, the Alien series is equipped with a preset function, allowing for quick saving and recalling of parameters. With this function, users can save a lot of time on setting parameters and have more time for production.
IP55 Rated Panel + Control Unit Rain Cover=Complete Protection
To tackle all-weather conditions and the uncertainties of life on set, the Alien series features a metal lamp head with an IP55 rating, combined with a specially designed rain cover for the control unit. This complete protection ensures that the demands of lighting in rainy, snowy, or dusty environments are met, enabling users to meet any location challenges.
Multiple Modes - Imagination unlocked
The Alien series offers various modes. Regardless of the scenario or application users can find the right solution with Alien's different modes.
CCT Mode: Reproduces various colors of light with a color temperature range of 2700K to 12000K and ±150 green/magenta adjustments.
HSI Mode: Allows direct and fast adjustment of hue, saturation, and intensity, offering a wide selection of 36,000 colors.
RGBW Mode: Allows the user to independently select the values of the red, green, blue, and white channels, creating a wide range of color combinations.
XY Coordinates: Achieves precise color control by adjusting the values of XY coordinates within the selected zone of the CIE 1931 color space.
Gel Mode: Includes 460 gels from LEE and ROSCO, with the option to switch the base CCT, reproducing the lighting effects of traditional physical gels.
Effect Mode: There are 15 in-built lighting effects, each with customizable parameters to allow the creation of immersive lighting effects.
Comprehensive Reliable Controls
The Alien series provides comprehensive wired and wireless control options, enabling users to choose their preferred control method and their production requirements.
On-board Control: The 3.2-inch screen clearly displays options and icons. It features the new generation Nanlite user interface with four buttons and three knobs.
Remote Controller: The Alien series features a built-in 2.4G module, enabling quick and easy remote adjustments of basic settings.
Nanlink App 2.0 Control: With the new light plot function and an enhanced interface, the Nanlink App 2.0 offers a more efficient and user-friendly wireless lighting control experience. Within the Nanlink App, users can control the Alien series together with other Nanlite and Nanlux fixtures.
DMX/RDM Control: Equipped with 5-pin XLR DMX in and out ports, it supports DMX/RDM control through a wired connection to a lighting console for accurate and reliable group control.
LumenRadio CRMX: The Alien 150C and Alien 300C are equipped with CRMX, enabling stable wireless DMX control.
Delicate Tuning - More than One Choice
The Alien series offers three different dimming methods: users can choose 0.1% increments for precise light control throughout the range, 1% increments for quick adjustments, or 0.1% increments specifically for brightness below 10%, ensuring both smooth tuning at low intensity and fast adjustments above 10% brightness.
With hardware upgrades and software enhancements the Alien series now achieves superior linear dimming. Dimming remains smooth even at the lowest brightness levels of 0.0% to 1.0%, allowing for an easy simulation of the fade-up process of traditional light sources.
With seven built-in DMX dimming curves and fifteen DMX modes, the Alien series meets the demanding control requirements for complex dimming speeds and lighting settings.
Designed for Quiet Operation
When designing the Alien 150C and 300C Nanlite’s engineers prioritized quiet operation and efficient heat dissipation from the LEDs. To achieve this the rear of lamp head is fully covered with an aluminum alloy heat sink and enhanced by powerful airflow from dual fans. This improvement in heat dissipation allows for a further reduction in the size and weight of the cooling system, making the lights smaller and lighter.
Equipped with five fan modes (Smart, Full Speed, Low Speed, Pause, Off), the Alien series can meet a wide variety of shooting and audio recording needs. In Smart mode, the average sound level is only 19 dB(A).
Additionally, when absolute silence is required, the newly added Pause mode allows the fans to be temporarily turned off while still running the lamp head at 100% brightness.
*In SMART mode, the lamp head will automatically switch fan speed according to the ambient temperature.
In SMART and FULL SPEED modes, the maximum output are 100%.
In LOW SPEED mode, the maximum output is 50%.
In PAUSE mode, the maximum output is 100%. (When the lamp head reaches the critical temperature, the fan will automatically switch to the smart mode.)
In OFF mode, the maximum output is 15%.
Versatile Power Choices
To cope with the complex and ever-changing conditions on set, the Alien series is equipped with reliable and versatile power options. Not only can it be connected to AC/DC power sources for sustained power assurance, but it also allows for the option of using 14.4V-14.8V or 26V-28V batteries for remote operation. The Alien 150C requires only one V-mount battery for power, while the Alien 300C supports the mixed use of V-mount batteries with different voltages.
Both the Alien 150C and Alien 300C support hot swapping between different power supply options*. This allows for seamless switching between power supply methods without interrupting the production.
*The current intensity must be within the supported range of the selected power supply option when hot swapping.
