Today Prolycht introduces exciting new features for its state-of-the-art Orion 300 FS color LED spotlight via a free firmware update.
Listening to feedback from users and working directly with gaffers and DPs has resulted in addition of several improvements, the most significant being a new X/Y coordinates mode that gives additional creative control while remaining completely intuitive. It allows precision color settings to be matched across several Orion 300 FS units, as well as with other lights, accessed through a new submenu on the ballast, via Prolycht’s free ChromaLink app, or using the updated DMX protocol.

Additionally Prolycht recently added advanced controls to the light’s existing ability to sample and then playback the changing color of a scene recorded by the user’s phone or tablet running the ChromaLink app.
The function is extremely useful on a virtual set when trying to recreate the complex changing lighting of a scene, like a busy subway tunnel or Times Square at night. In essence the user can point the camera at a green object for 10 seconds, then a red object for 5 seconds, etc. to record it. When they play the file back the Orion will replicate the colors for the same periods of time.

As a result of user feedback the maximum record time of this feature has been extended from two minutes to ten. Real time controls have also been added to make changes AFTER the files are created. In playback there's a slider for Brightness, one for "Degree of Filter" (similar to different strengths of gel being applied to a light) and then a color wheel for the actual color, plus Hue and Saturation inputs again. All of which can be adjusted in real time during playback to match whatever interactive lighting the operator may want.
Free Soft Dome Promotion
To celebrate these improvements Prolycht is offering an April promotion in the US and Canada. With the purchase of an Orion 300 FS (PL20001 and PL20001AB), a free Orion 36” Soft Dome (PL20003) is included. This offer is valid throughout the month of April for all purchased through authorized US dealers.

About Orion 300 FS
The Orion 300 FS LED full spectrum spotlight utilizes the industry-leading 6-color LED Hyperlight engine (red/green/blue/amber/cyan/lime) to create a wide color gamut with excellent fidelity and accurate, pleasing skin tone reproduction. Color temperature range is from 2000K-20,000K with precision control of all color channels throughout. The full spectrum color abilities of the Orion 300 FS set it apart from all other products at its power and price.
Multiple useful tools are built into the Orion 300 FS, including presets to replicate the output of more than 40 types of light sources, more than 300 Lee & Rosco color gel equivalents, as well as adjustable multicolor effects modes such as TV SCREEN and COP CAR. Additionally, the Orion 300 FS color can be precision adjusted using CCT color temperature with green/magenta offset, HSI (Hue/Saturation/Intensity), X/Y Coordinates, or by directly interfacing with the six individual color channels in the LED array. Along with the hundreds of preloaded settings, users can load their own presets into the Orion 300 FS.
Control of the Orion 300 FS is available on the ballast itself, through DMX, ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. Prolycht offers the free ChromaLink App for smart devices, or alternatively the Orion 300 FS can interface with popular light control software and hardware. The Orion 300 FS can be powered from AC power or a pair of high power V-mount or AB-mount batteries.
